Some important factors in our success this season have been:
-Improved depth: A season ago 28 kids participated in football. This season 49 kids were on the 9-12 roster. -Being able to overcome season ending injuries to 6 players in which 4 of them were full time starters. -5 of Springfield's starters were not out for football a season ago. -A balanced offense that averages 382 yards per game.

- The past two seasons the Tigers won a total of 3 games. Currently, the Tigers have a 7 and 4 record.
Noteworthy data on individual players:
Isaac Fink and Decker Scheffler have participated in the MN State playoffs in 3 different (1), basketball (1)and baseball (3). Both Fink and Scheffler started on the 2016 State Championship Baseball team. According to Maxpreps Statistics: Decker Scheffer is 3rd in the State of MN in passing yards (2,212 yds) and 2nd in touchdown passes thrown with 23. Isaac Fink leads the state of MN in receiving yards with 1031 and touchdown receptions with 15. Issac Fink received a full scholarship to play basketball and baseball at Augustana University. In basketball, Fink has 2,376 points, 865 rebounds and 598 assists. Ivan Hovland ranks 3rd in the state in total tackes with 135 and Mason Rummel 4th with 110.
Other Interests and Achievements of team personnel:
-Bob Fink spent 16 seasons as the Springfield's Head Baseball coach winning 262 games, 4 state tournament appearances, 1 State Championship (2016), 7 Conference titles and was named Minnesota State Class A Baseball Coach of the Year in 2016. -Four members of the Springfield coaching staff played college football....Adam Meyer (Hamline), Pat Moriarty (Mankato State Univ.), Jeff Kuehn (Bethel Univ.) and Bob Fink (North Dakota State School of Science) -Football Assistant Coach, Adam Meyer, was a 3 year starter at quarterback at Hamline University. He set the record twice for passing yards in a game and left the school as the second all-time leader in passing touchdowns. -Football assistant football coach, Brandon Wilhelmi, is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Springfield.
