Only 56 teams are still playing football in Minnesota, which can only mean one thing: the state playoffs have arrived. In all seven classes, from nine-man to 6A, quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the winners advancing to the Metrodome, where the state semifinals and Prep Bowl will be played for the last time before the building is demolished.

Five quarterfinal games will be played Thursday, 14 Friday and the final nine Saturday. It looks like the weather may cooperate for the 26 games that will be played outdoors; two of the 6A games will be played at the Metrodome.

The state semifinals will be played at the Metrodome Nov. 14, 15 and 16, and then there will be an unusually long break before the Prep Bowl state championship games. After the semifinals have been played, winning teams will have two weeks before the Prep Bowl, Nov. 29-30 at the Metrodome.
