The Caledonia Warriors are back for more, and they guaranteed themselves a return spot in the Prep Bowl with a 37-0 victory over Warroad in Saturday’s Class 2A semifinals. Caledonia, the defending 2A state champs, will meet Moose Lake/Willow River in the title game next Friday at 4 p.m.

Three of Warroad’s first six possessions ended in interceptions, and Caledonia turned those opportunities into points. After Houston Halverson picked off a pass on the game’s opening drive, Kennen Bruening threw 12 yards to Travis Frank for the first touchdown. The first quarter ended with a 10-0 score and Caledonia made it 23-0 at halftime.

Connor McCormick finished with two touchdown runs for Caledonia (12-1), gaining 164 yards on 20 carries. Bruening completed eight of 11 passes for 102 yards and two TDs. For Warroad (9-3), Aaron Haataja ran 16 times for 72 yards and Ross Merriman ran 19 times for 47 yards.

Caledonia defeated Triton 28-7 in last year’s Prep Bowl. Two years ago, Moose Lake/Willow River lost to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 33-22 in the title game.
