State Girls' Volleyball Tournament
Shakopee looking for third consecutive Class AAA title; Seven teams make first appearances
Shakopee is the only team returning to defend its 2008 title at the 2009 State Girls' Volleyball Tournament. If the Sabers win it would be their third consecutive Class AAA crown.

It is the second year of seeding for the tournament. Coaches of the qualified teams seeded all of the other teams and then opponents were randomly selected for the top four seeds.

Two other teams, Andover and Wayzata, are also returning from the 2008 Class AAA field. Centennial of Circle Pines, Stillwater Area, and Farmington are all making their debut appearances.

In Class AA, four teams return from the 2008 field: Marshall, Wadena-Deer Creek, Hibbing, and Delano. Byron and Minnehaha Academy of Minneapolis are competing in the tournament for the first time.

Three teams return from the 2008 Class A field: Bethlehem Academy, Deer River, and Lake of the Woods of Baudette. Nevis and Parkers Prairie are both making their debut appearances.

Statistics provided by qualified teams are available on the League's Web site - www.MSHSL.org - as a Media Guide link under Tournaments, then Fall, then Volleyball.
