2024 Girls Swimming and Diving State Tournament: Diving Preliminaries Recap

The diving preliminaries were the first event held at the Minnesota State High School League’s annual Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet. Swimming and diving finals in both classes will be held at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on Saturday, November 16. Class A finals begin at noon and Class AA will follow at 6 p.m.
Class A Highlights
Defending champion Alayna Kennedy, a senior from Austin, leads the Class A field at the end of the preliminaries. She had the high score of 318.45. Senior Josie Bossen of St. Anthony Village is currently second at 267.95.
Big Lake senior Torri Ramert (252.00) and St. Cloud Tech sophomore Brenna Gruber (250.40) follow in third and fourth place, respectively. Red Wing sophomore Kylie Moffett (250.30) rounds out the Top 5 preliminary finishers.
Class AA Highlights
Minneapolis Washburn junior Madeline Kohel is in the top spot as she looks to defend her 2023 title. She leads the Class AA competitors after the preliminary diving rounds with a score of 329.65. Kohel set a new Class AA and All-Time state meet record with her score 529.20 last year.
Wayzata sophomore Ashley Mouyenga and Edina senior Zara Karimi are in a tight battle for the second spot. Mouyenga currently stands at 306.40 and Karimi trails at 304.40. Karimi placed fourth in 2023 and Mouyenga was sixth.
Irondale senior Lulu Semakula (300.05) and Hastings sophomore Chloe Aarness (295.50) round out the Top 5. Semakula finished in 10th place last year and Aarness was 13th.
