Officials play a vital role in the Minnesota State High School League’s activities. They spend countless hours traveling to activities around the state and use their expertise to educate student-athletes on the rules of the game. We simply could not play without them.
Years of Service is a recognition program for officials to acknowledge the years of service provided to MSHSL member schools. Each year the League will provide officials with the award for which they qualify.
Additionally, the League honors officials' associations with three awards. The Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who exemplifies leadership and service to their fellow officials and has made a difference through long-time service and commitment.
Two awards acknowledge the contributions that officials’ associations make in areas such as training, recruiting, and mentoring new officials. The Association Award of Excellence recognizes one association for the overall quality of their association and the service that they provide to member schools. The Citation Award honors an association for a specific program that they have enacted which has significantly impacted the association, member schools, student-athletes, or the communities they serve.
