Boys Basketball 2025: Dawson-Boyd tops Heritage Christian Academy in its first state tournament game since 1991

Dawson-Boyd is making its presence felt in its first Boys Basketball State Tournament since 1991.

The No. 2 seed Blackjacks used an early 11-0 run to take a 17-7 lead and rolled to a 69-46 win over No. 7 Heritage Christian Academy in a Class A quarterfinal game Thursday afternoon at Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Brayson Boike did much of the damage for Dawson-Boyd (28-3) inside with 31 points on 11-for-18 shooting. Gunner Liebl added 18 points.

The Blackjacks have won 18 straight games.

Heritage Christian Academy (24-6) didn't let the game get away in the first half, closing within 34-28 at the break. Abu Tarawallie led the Eagles with 13 points and 19 boards.

Up next: Dawson-Boyd plays in a 2 p.m. semifinal game Friday at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus. Heritage Christian heads to Gangelhoff Center on the Concordia University campus in St. Paul for a 2 p.m. consolation game Friday.
