Swim and Dive State Meet; Visitation Wins Class A Swimming and Diving State Title

Visitation won its second consecutive Girls Swimming and Diving title and its 13th overall with 397 points. In addition to the past two years, the Blazers claimed four consecutive championships between 2005-2008 and seven between 2013-2019.
In the final events, Delano pulled ahead of Mound-Westonka/Holy Family for second-place honors. Delano finished with 194.50 points to Mound Westonka/Holy Family’s 168.
Visitation won five events on its way to the championship. Senior Ella Passe won the 200 freestyle (1:51.38) and successfully defended her crown in the 500 freestyle (5:00.44). The Blazers also swept the top four places in 500. Passe was followed by senior Elizabeth Burke (5:05.51), junior Tessa Lindstrom (5:06.56) and sophomore Maggie Farley (5:07.10).
Senior Anna Farley claimed the only other individual title for Visitation. She earned her second consecutive title in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.55.
The Blazers also won two relays on their way to the championship. The foursome of Maggie Farley, Burke, Passe and sophomore Katie Miller won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.01and the 400 freestyle relay in 3:30.37.
Junior Hallie Drossel of Melrose Area was the only other competitor to successfully defend her 2021 crown. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.73.
Two competitors won two titles apiece. Monticello eighth-grader Adalynn Biegler claimed the top spot in 50 freestyle in 23.14 and the 100 freestyle in 51.28. Blake junior Carly Bixby won the 100 butterfly in 54.53 and the 100 backstroke in 54.81.
