MSHSL Classification Appeal Form

Classification Appeal for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 School Years

A School Administrator (Activities Director, Principal or Superintendent) must submit this form on behalf of the school.

Important:

  • * Review this form to know what information is required.
  • * A form must be completed in one session, so it's critical that you have your information collected before you begin the form. 
  • * If submitting for a co-op team, combine numbers where applicable below. Add further details in the comments box at the end of the form.
  • * A limited number of those appealing are granted their request.

General Information: 

  • * Schools or co-ops may appeal to a lower classification in a sport/activity sponsored by their school and according to board policy.
    • 1. Free and Reduced lunch percentage greater than 50% and/or;
    • 2. MSHSL Enrollment must be within 10% of the enrollment cut-off for the class to which they are appealing. Example: Baseball classification cut off: Class AA is 216; Class A is 215 and below. If you are appealing out of AA into A, your enrollment must be within 10% of 216. You may only appeal down one class.
  • * Schools that would like to appeal must submit a form for each sport/activity that they choose to appeal.
  • * The deadline for appeals is March 7, 2025
