Three Class A productions earned "starred performance" ratings at the Class A One Act Play State Festival. Belle Plaine received its 17th "star" for its rendition of Mill Girls. Sauk Centre and Dilworth-Gyndon-Felton also earned coveted "starred performance" ratings.

Three Class AA productions earned "starred performance" ratings at the Class AA One Act Play State Festival. Cambridge-Isanti earned its first "star" in eight appearances with its production of Aunt Leaf. Lakeville South and Alexandria Area also received "starred performances" ratings.

The curtain goes up on the 2022 One Act Play State Festival this week. The Class AA schools take to the O'Shaughnessy stage on Thursday, February 10. The Class A schools will follow on Friday, February 11.

Skylar Wang of Blake earned her second consecutive Public Form championship with new partner Elizabeth Terveen. This was also the third consecutive Public Forum title for Blake. Wang and Joshua Enebo won in 2021 and Morgan Swigert and Jack Johnson claimed top honors in 2020.

The Debate State Tournament, the Minnesota State High School League’s longest-running event, marks its 121st anniversary. Minneapolis South's Clara Conry and Blake's Skylar Wang both return in search of more gold. Conry competes in Policy and Wang competes in Public Forum.

The top-ranked Scarlets were undefeated during a pandemic-influenced 2020 high school football season and didn’t have a chance to build on that with a canceled postseason. Keeping that focus on 2021 and a renewed opportunity, Mankato West zeroed in on another season capped with a Class AAAAA championship. That quest was completed Saturday, Nov. 27 with a 24-10 victory over Mahtomedi in the title game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Cardinals were dazzling on offense and suffocating on defense in producing a record-setting day in a 58-8 victory over Fertile-Beltrami in the Class Nine-Man championship game on Saturday, Nov. 27 at U.S. Bank Stadium. It is the first football championship for the school nestled just inside the border in southeastern Minnesota
