The Panthers (24-1) built a two-run advantage they wouldn’t surrender with two runs, including an RBI single senior catcher David Revering. Sophomore centerfielder Griffin Booms had three hits for the Eagles (17-5).

No. 2 Parkers Prairie 7, Sacred Heart 1: Junior shortstop Nolan Steidl hit a two-run double down the left field line in the first inning to set the tone for Parkers Prairie (25-1) in its semifinal victory over Sacred Heart 20-4) at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. He later added an RBI single in the second inning and scored a run in the fifth inning. The Panthers, making their fourth state tournament appearance, are in a Class A championship game for the third time. In 2016, Parkers Prairie was the Class A runner-up, and a year later, won its first championship.

Senior shortstop Isaac Asuma, who has signed to play basketball at the University of Minnesota, was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. He was part of Cherry’s Class A Championship run in basketball this past winter.

No. 4 Springfield 4, No. 5 New York Mills 0: Senior pitcher Jakob Nachreiner was double-trouble at the plate and on the mound in leading the Tigers (23-2) past the Eagles (18-7) in the final game of the day at Faber Field. He was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, and on the mound, he pitched a one-hitter while striking out 14.

Springfield was the Class A runner-up in 2015 and the champion in 2016. Springfield is on a 15-game winning streak. Cherry (24-3) was attempting to capture its second championship for the school year. In March, the Tigers won the Class A basketball crown.
