My high school journey

  • In my high school journey, I have done a lot of sports and activities. I grew up doing a lot of sports with my family; we are a big family of seven. High school has been such an exciting and rewarding time for me. I’ve had a different experience of being a triplet with two older twin sisters, which means I’ve always had my siblings by my side, whether we’re cheering for each other or competing together as a team. Our family has always been involved in sports, which has been a huge part of my high school experience. I’ve played three sports: basketball, softball and swimming, throughout my high school career. Each sport has brought its challenges but are so rewarding that they’ve all taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance and discipline. One of my proudest moments was going to state in all three sports at least once. But my favorite memory is a memorable trip to the state tournament in softball with my three sisters. Sharing those experiences with my siblings made the experiences even more special. Another one of my favorite memories was going to state with my teammates in swimming; being on the podium twice was super special. My high school experience at Brainerd has been amazing, and I am so proud to be called a leader for my fantastic teammates, coaches, administrators and community.

Favorite high school memories

  • Some of my favorite memories are from the times I’ve spent with my siblings and teammates. I have so many memories as a student at Brainerd High School. So, let me try to pick only a couple: My first favorite memory would have to be winning the 50-yard freestyle at the swimming state meet this past fall. It was just all of the hard work I put in over the years all coming together for my last time ever swimming the event. Another memory would have to be going to state in softball my freshman year with my three sisters. We had a 26-1 record and made history at Brainerd, along with doing it all with built-in friends. Another one would have to be this basketball season, our team making it to state and being the No. 5 seed. Our team for the section championship played together and did all we needed to do. It was extra special because we haven’t sent a girls basketball team to state in 28 years. I will always cherish the bonds I’ve formed with my teammates and coaches the most!

Why I enjoy being involved with high school activities

  • Being involved in high school sports and other activities has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my high school experience. I love the sense of community that comes with being a student at BHS. It’s not just about winning; it’s about working together toward a common goal and supporting each other. The friendships I’ve made with teammates and classmates are some of the most valuable connections I’ve made, and helped shape who I am today. There’s also something incredibly rewarding about pushing myself to my limits and seeing the results. Whether it’s competing in a basketball game, swimming in a meet, or playing in a softball game, the feeling of accomplishment after giving my all is something I am so grateful for. I’ve learned a lot about resilience through sports, how to keep going even when things get tough, and how to bounce back after setbacks. These experiences have given me a sense of determination that I can apply to all areas of my life. It’s helped me develop my leadership skills, especially when I’ve had the chance to take on roles to mentor younger athletes. Overall, high school has been an amazing journey, and my involvement in sports has been one of the most rewarding parts. From the competition and challenges to the friendships and memories, I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything.
