Minnetonka improved on last year’s runner-up showing to earn its fourth Class AA Girls Swiming and Diving State Meet team title. The Skippers, who finished with 325 points this year, won their last title in 2021. The two-time defending champions from Edina placed second with 300 points and Shakopee was third at 193.

Minnetonka won two events on its way to the championship. The Skippers won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.68 and junior Lydia Cameron won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.83. Seniors Kendall Schindler and Annabelle Wentzel, sophomore Annika Graham and ninth-grader Claire Wilkey were the members of the winning relay team.

Four individual competitors were successful in defending their 2023 titles. St. Michael-Albertville senior Lily Van Heel earned her third consecutive crown in the 100 backstroke (53.99) and Minneapolis Washburn junior Madeline Kohel claimed her second in 1-meter diving (479.05). Shakopee senior Arianna Zelen repeated in the 100 freestyle (50.07) and Prior Lake senior Ivy Solt won for a second consecutive time in the 500 freestyle (4:56.53).

East Ridge sophomore Logan Havermann was the only AA competitor to win multiple titles. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:00.06 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.47. Havermann was also the only entrant to set a Class AA record at this year’s meet with her time in the individual medley.

Edina was the only team to successfully defend a 2023 relay title. Ninth-graders Bobbi Simmons and Siggy Nymo, junior Sophie Katz and junior Libbi McCarthy won the 200 medley relay for a second consecutive year with a time of 1:41.78.

The Hornets also earned top honors in the 400 freestyle relay (3:23.79). McCarthy, Simmons, sophomore Macy Malinski and junior Audrey Peterson comprised that team.
