2024 Girls Swimming and Diving State Tournament: Class A Swimming Preliminaries Recap

Monticello took the lead in four events during the Class A swimming preliminaries. 

Sophomore Adalynn Biegler led the way for the Magic. Biegler, who is looking for her third consecutive title in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, had the fastest preliminary time in each event. She completed the 50 in 22.43 and the 100 in 46.65. Biegler’s time in the 50 was also a Class A state meet record. 

Monticello also earned the top time in both the 200 medley relay (1:47.58) and 200 freestyle relay (1:36.75) with Biegler as the first swimmer on each team. Juniors Camdyn Branson and Ella Vagle and sophomore Scarlet Urick rounded out the medley team, while Vagle, sophomore Elsie Farnsworth and senior Adrienne Yender completed the freestyle team. 

Katie Miller, a senior from Visitation, is looking to add to her gold medal count in the 500 freestyle. She earned the top spot going into the finals with a time 5:03.85. 

Orono junior Graycin Andreen was the only other individual competitor with the fastest time in two events. She posted a 1:52.26 in the 200 freestyle and a 56.01 in the 100 butterfly.

The Class A swimming and diving finals will be held at noon on Saturday, November 16.
