2024 Track and Field State Tournament Advance Release

Minnesota’s top track and field qualifiers will converge on St. Michael-Albertville High School this week for the three-day Minnesota State High School League State Meet that begins Thursday, June 6. 

Among the brightest standouts is Rockford senior Brian Schloeder, who will attempt to win his third consecutive title in the Class AA pole vault. He comes into the meet with the best qualifying vault of 14 feet, 5 inches. He won with a height of 15 feet, 6 inches in 2023.

Here is a look at others to watch:

  • Blaine returns two relay teams to the girls AAA meet. The Bengals return in the 4x200 (1:41.66) and the 4x400 (3.57.62). Champlin Park has the best qualifying time in the 4x200 (1:41.24) and Minnetonka comes into the 4x400 with a 3:53.65. 
  • St. Charles junior Tyler Gunnarson returns to defend his title in two Class A wheelchair events: the 100- and 200-meter. He has the fastest qualifying time in each race; 15.92 in the 100 and 29.66 in the 200. Gunnarson is also the only qualifier in the 400-meter wheelchair race (59.31). 
  • Trinity/Unity senior Mariah Willard is back to defend her title in the Class A 300-meter hurdles with a qualifying time of 46.11. RACE junior Adella Schmoll has the best qualifying time of 45.26.
  • Madelyn Gullickson, a sophomore from Wayzata, returns to defend her title in the 3200-meter run with the best qualifying time of 10:39.67. Gullickson will also compete against two of her sophomore teammates: Jazleen Malherek-Osorio (10:59.60) and Lila Golcomb (10:43.89).
