Adapted Softball State Tournament 2024: Day 1 Recap

All three of the top seeds advanced to the semifinals in the PI and CI Divisions of the 2024 Adapted Softball State Tournament. Dakota United advanced in PI and Osseo and Dakota United advanced in CI. 

Champions will be crowned at Chanhassen High School on Saturday, May 18. 

PI Summary 

Dakota United and Minneapolis South will meet in the first PI championship semifinal game. Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka and Rochester will meet in the second.

Dakota United dismissed Anoka-Hennepin 16-0 in the first semifinal of the evening. The Hawks scored five runs in both the third and fourth innings. Junior pitcher Cayden Needham paced Dakota United with a team-high four hits and junior first baseman Tommy Juberian added three hits.

Minneapolis South upended St. Paul Humboldt 14-5 behind four runs from senior pitcher Nick Staloch. Lindasue Anderson, a junior infielder, had three runs for the Tigers in six at-bats. Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka was the third team to advance; the Robins defeated South Suburban 12-2. Eighth-grade infielder Grady Lease led all players with four RBI. Senior outfielder Jose Leon Estrada added three RBI for Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka.

In the final quarterfinal of the evening, Rochester defeated Osseo 4-3 in eight innings. Sophomore outfielder Elijah Yoder scored the winning run for the Raiders.  

CI Summary

Osseo will face off against Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville in the first semifinal on Saturday. New Prague and Dakota United will meet in the second. 

Osseo cruised past Anoka-Hennepin with a 12-5 quarterfinal victory. Senior pitcher Alec Singh and senior catcher Saniyah Green accounted for two of Osseo’s RBI. Ninth-grade shortstop Cortez Crumble scored three runs for the Orioles and Green had a double. 

In other CI quarterfinal action, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville defeated South Suburban 14-0. Senior outfielder Clarke Ruhland had three RBI for the Blazing Cats. In the third quarterfinal, New Prague emerged with a 15-9 victory over St. Cloud Area. Junior Tryston Seeger tallied three runs for the Trojans.

Dakota United was the final team to advance. The Hawks defeated the Southern Stars of Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee 13-3 in six innings. Junior shortstop Colin Price and senior infielder Kyle Jacobson scored two runs apiece for Dakota United.
