Boys and Girls Lacrosse State Tournaments set for this week at Stillwater

Lacrosse State Tournaments set to play this week at Stillwater High School
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. --- Eight boys teams and eight girls teams will be in action this week when the 2021 Minnesota State High School League’s Lacrosse State Tournaments are played at Stillwater High School. The boys begin play on Tuesday, June 15 and will conclude on Saturday, June 19. The girls tournament will be played from Wednesday, June 16 through Friday, June 18. This will be the first state tournament held after a one-season hiatus when no events were held last spring during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

2019 champions
· Boys --- Prior Lake
· Girls --- Prior Lake
Briefly:
· Three South Suburban Conference schools have the top three seeds in the girls tournament: No. 1 Prior Lake, No. 2 Lakeville South and No. 3 Rosemount.
· Chisago Lakes, Chanhassen, Moorhead and Stillwater are making their first appearance in the boys state tournament.
· In the girls tournament, Andover, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Hill-Murray and Rosemount are making debut appearances.
· Eden Prairie has qualified for every girls state tournament since its inception in 2007. In that span, the Eagles have won five championships. That trails Blake which has six crowns.
· Prior Lake set a state tournament record with 57 goals in three games en route to winning the girls championship in 2019.
· Benilde-St. Margaret’s, the first boys champion in 2007, won two more titles and has finished as the boys runner-up the past three tournaments.
· In winning the title in 2019, Prior Lake surrendered a state-tournament record low of 10 goals in three games.
