Boys Swimming and Diving 2025: Edina earns second consecutive Class AA title, 16th overall

Edina defended its title with 348 points in the Class AA segment of the 2025 Boys Swimming and Diving State Meet. This was the Hornets’ second consecutive team title and 16th overall. In addition to the past two years, Edina also won in 1965, 1967, 1968, 1984, 1986, 1987, 2004, 2008-2010 and 2019-2022.

Minnetonka placed second with 322 points and Prior Lake was third at 247.           

Edina won one event on its way to the championship. Senior Jiarui Xue earned his third consecutive title in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:26.68.

Minnetonka claimed titles in four events this year. Senior Evan Witte captured his third consecutive championship in the 100 freestyle (44.05). Witte also won the 50 freestyle (20.06) and was the first swimmer on the winning 400 freestyle relay team that defended its title with a time of 3:02.26. Juniors Ben Jabs and Brix Dewitt and senior Reece Carlson rounded out that team. 

The Skippers’ final victory came in the 200 freestyle relay. Jabs, senior Daniel Shelstad and juniors William Finucane-Tuccio and Isaac Young completed that race in 1:24.14.

St. Cloud Tech junior Micah Davis and Stillwater Area senior Jackson Kogler joined Minnetonka’s Witte in claiming multiple individual titles. Davis won his third consecutive championship in both the 200 freestyle (1:37.10) and the 100 butterfly (47.32). 

Kogler set a Class AA and all-time state meet record of 1:46.14 in the 200 individual medley. He then went on to win the 100 backstroke in 47.87.

Senior Lucas Gerten of Rosemount and senior Jack Hackler of Waconia were the final competitors to successfully defend their 2024 titles. Gerten earned his fourth consecutive crown in 1-meter diving (522.60) and Hackler repeated in the 100 breaststroke (53.93).

Prior Lake was the final team to defend a relay title. The team of seniors Ethan Kosin and Griffin Leining and juniors Owen Beaudette and Braxton Helmers posted 1:30.75 in the 200 medley relay.
