Boys Swimming and Diving 2025: Minnetonka leads Class AA field with fastest time in three events

Minnetonka led all Class AA schools with the fastest preliminary time in three races at the 2025 Boys Swimming and Diving State Meet. Wayzata and Prior Lake each had the best preliminary times in two events.
Minnetonka senior Evan Witte had the best preliminary time in the 50 freestyle (20.35) and the 100 freestyle (44.28). He is in the hunt for his third consecutive title in the 100.
The Skippers final preliminary victory came in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of senior Daniel Shelstad and juniors Ben Jabs, Brix Dewitt and William Finucane-TuMinnetonkccio posted a time of 1:23.59.
Junior Nathan Carr led the Wayzata Trojans with the fastest time in the 100 butterfly (47.63). He was also the first swimmer on the winning 200 medley relay team that included sophomores Noah Landry and Jerry Lou and senior Max Carter. Their preliminary time was 1:31.44.
Prior Lake was the final team to post the fastest time in two events. Defending champion, senior Ethan Kosin, posted the best time in the 100 backstroke (48.21). Kosin also anchored the 400 freestlye relay team that won in 3:06.18. Sophomore Jamey Solt, senior Griffin Leining and junior Braxton Helmers rounded out that team.
Two additional competitors return in search of their third consecutive titles. St. Cloud Tech junior Micah Davis took the top spot in the 200 freestyle (1:39.96) and Edina senior Jiarui Xue had the best time in the 500 freestyle (4:34.72).
Jack Hackler, a senior from Waconia, is the final returning champion. He had the fastest preliminary time of 55.01 in the 100 breaststroke.
The Class AA swimming and diving finals are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.
