Boys Swimming and Diving 2025: Rosemount's Lucas Gerten chases fourth diving title

Red Wing junior Zachary Mikkelson (Class A) and Rosemount senior Lucas Gerten (Class AA) sit atop the standings after the diving preliminaries of the 2025 Boys Swimming and Diving State Meet. Gerten is looking for his fourth consecutive title while Mikkelson is in the hunt for his first championship.
Class A
Red Wing’s Zachary Mikkelson leads the Class A diving field at the end of the preliminaries. Mikkelson took runner-up honors in 2024. He finished the semifinals with a score of 335.85 this year.
Defending champion, Alexandria Area junior Kyler Kavanagh, is currently in second place (309.15). Orono sophomore Gideon Fish follows in third (306.20). Fish did not qualify for the 2024 state meet.
The Class A diving finals will take place at noon on Saturday, March 8.
Class AA
Three-time defending champion Lucas Gerten heads up the Class AA field after the preliminary diving rounds. His semifinal score was 349.25. Gerten set the all-time state meet record of 539.60 in last year's finals.
Buffalo senior Mason Evenson and Prior Lake senior Maddox Mork follow in second and third place, respectively. Evenson currently stands at 292.95 and Stone trails at 291.50. Mork is looking to improve on last year’s fifth-place showing. Evenson placed seventh in 2024.
The Class AA diving finals will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 8.
