Class AA Girls Hockey State Quarterfinal: Minnetonka 9, Burnsville 0

The No. 3-seeded Minnetonka Skippers (22-6-0) defeated the Burnsville Blaze (22-5-1) 9-0 in the second game of the Class AA girls hockey quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.
The Skippers dominated the first period with 13 shots on goal in the first period. Junior Grace Sadura scored at 2:45, assisted by sophomore Lauren Karl. At 8:46, Sadura and junior Josie Hemp assisted on a goal by junior Elly Klepinger during a power play. Burnsville was unable to put any shots on goal during two power-play advantages.
Sadura scored her second goal of the game at 7:32 of the second period assisted by sophomore Kendra Distad. With 5.6 seconds left in the period, freshman Ruby Rauk scored in a net filled with defenders, unassisted. The Blaze started the period strong and had six shots on goal for the second period.
At 1:17 in the third period, Minnetonka sophomore forward Lindzi Avar scored, assisted by Karl and freshman Lauren Mack. Forty-five seconds later freshman Ava Lyndsay scored on a slapshot, assisted by junior Katherine Manning. With the clock running, Rauk scored her second goal of the game with assists from freshmen Isabella Finnegan and Senja Leeper at 3:41. At 13:15, Leeper scored with an assist from Hemp. Sadura completed a hat trick at 15:20 with an assist from Distad.
Burnsville’s sophomore goalie Addison Oettinger defended the net with 29 saves. Both of Minnetonka's goalies saw action and were perfect in the net with 11 shots coming at senior Sophia Johnson.
The Skippers will play again on Friday at 6:00 p.m., taking on their westside neighbors the Hornets of Edina in the semifinals. Burnsville will meet Northfield in the consolation at 10:00 a.m. at TRIA Rink in St. Paul on Friday.
