Reese Drake was perfect from the free throw line. She distributed the ball to her teammates for key baskets. And she took it away from the opponent.

The 5-foot-8 junior starred Wednesday for No. 3 seed Marshall in a 67-51 Class AAA Girls Basketball State Tournament quarterfinal victory over No. 6 Rock Ridge at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota’s campus.

Drake’s 26 points, 11 free throws, six assists and four steals were all game-highs.

Marshall (28-1) ended the first half on a 16-5 run to take a 35-21 advantage. The lead grew to 22 early in the second half before Rock Ridge rallied within nine with less than four minutes left. Drake drove and kicked to Taleigha Bigler for an open 3-pointer on the next possession, then hit Avery Fahl for another 3 and the Tigers wrapped up the victory.

Fahl buried five 3-pointers and totaled 15 points. Bigler added 13, Avery Schneekloth 11 and nine rebounds.

Anna Westby led Rock Ridge with 21 points and 15 boards.

Up next: Marshall faces No. 7 Cretin-Derham Hall in a semifinal game at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williams Arena. Rock Ridge will take on Monticello in a consolation game at Gangelhoff Center on the Concordia University campus in St. Paul. That game tips off at 4 p.m. Thursday.
