Three traditional state tournament sites will host the Minnesota State High School League’s Golf State Tournaments on Tuesday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 15. The Class A event is at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker and the Class AA field will gather at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. The Class AAA tournament is at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.

Here are some players and teams to watch during the tournaments:

Class AA

Cloquet is the defending champion and leads a field of five returning team qualifiers in the boys’ event. The Lumberjacks are followed by Totino-Grace, the runner-up last season, Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa (fifth), Roseau (sixth) and New London-Spicer (eighth). New London-Spicer senior Peyton Coahran placed third in 2021.

Lake City returns to defend its crown in the girls’ team event. The Tigers are joined by five additional qualifiers from the 2021 field: Providence Academy (runner-up), Fergus Falls (third), Minnewaska Area/BBE (fourth), Pequot Lakes (fifth) and St. Croix Lutheran Academy (sixth). Perham senior Mallory Belka is a returning individual champion. She is joined by Lake City sophomore Jordana Windhorst Knudsen (runner-up) and Providence Academy junior Grace Petzold (third).

Class AAA

Edina was the big-school runner-up in 2021 and it returns to lead the field a season later. Eastview (third) and Alexandria Area (fifth) also return from last year’s field. Northfield senior Nate Stevens is the returning Class AAA champion.

Six teams, including the defending champion from Alexandria Area, return in the girls’ team competition. The Cardinals are joined by: Maple Grove (runner-up), Edina (third), Eden Prairie (fourth), Eastview (fifth) and Stillwater Area (sixth). Simley sophomore Reese McCauley returns to defend her individual title. Roseville Area junior Olivia Salonek, the runner-up in 2021, also returns.
