Key things to know about the 2025 MSHSL Dance Team State Tournament

Every team that earned a top-three finish last year is back at Target Center for the 2025 Dance Team State Tournament, which begins Friday with the Jazz competition and follows with High Kick on Saturday.
NSPN.tv will feature livestreams both days. Here are a few things to know about the qualifiers:
Class A

St. Cloud Cathedral has won the last three Jazz championships and two of the last three in High Kick. The Crusaderettes again qualified in both competitions out of Section 2A.

Another Jazz and High Kick qualifier out of Section 2A, Holdingford interrupted St. Cloud Cathedral's streak with its first Dance Team championship last year in High Kick.

Yellow Medicine East was the runner-up in both competitions last season and returns for another shot at trophies both days.

Section 3A's Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd returns for Jazz and High Kick after placing third last year in both. The Shadows were three-time winners in both from 2019-2021.
Class AA

Returning Class AA High Kick winner Totino-Grace has claimed 21 Dance Team state championships.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s has won two of the last three in Jazz and 12 all-time. Like Totino-Grace, the Knightettes qualified for both competitions from Section 2AA.

The 2024 Jazz runner-up, Orono earned its first title in 2023 and will again compete both days this year.
Class AAA

Wayzata (Jazz) and Brainerd (High Kick) are back as reigning champs. Both advanced in each competition again this season.

Eastview, which placed third in both competitions a year ago, won four straight High Kick titles from 2020-2023 and three consecutive in Jazz from 2020-2022. The Lightning Dance Team will aim to add to its 22 total state championships after qualifying for both again.
