Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, Benilde-St. Margaret's, Eastview win Dance Team Jazz State Championships

It was a celebratory day at Target Center on Friday, the first day of the Minnesota State High School League's Dance Team State Tournament. Three teams were crowned state champions in the Jazz competition.

Class A Jazz

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd is back on top in Class A Jazz. The Shadows, dancing to "Fix It To Break It," captured their first state championship since winning three consecutive in both Jazz and High Kick from 2019-2021.

Yellow Medicine East was the Jazz runner-up for the second year in a row.

Last season's champion, St. Cloud Cathedral took third this year.

Class AA Jazz

Benilde-St. Margaret's earned its second straight state championship and third in the last four years, dancing to "Who I Am." The Knightettes now claim 13 Dance Team titles, 12 in Jazz.

Orono's runner-up finish was also a repeat result. The Spartans have taken home second-place trophies three of the last four years with a championship in 2023.

Totino-Grace took third, matching its 2022 finish.

Class AAA Jazz

Dancing to "Don't Leave Me," Eastview added to a crowded trophy case with its eighth Jazz championship and 23rd overall Dance Team state title. The Lightning Dance Team was third in Jazz the last two seasons.

Maple Grove took second for the fourth time in the last five years with a championship in between in 2023. 

Edina placed third.

The Dance Team State Tournament continues Saturday with the High Kick competition.
