State Baseball Class A Quarterfinal Recap

Number one seeded Hayfield took on Adrian-Ellsworth to kick off the 2021 Class A MSHSL State Baseball Tournament at St. Cloud’s Joe Faber Field on Tuesday, June 15. The Vikings were winners with a final score of 16-1 in 5 innings. Hayfield betters their record to 24-0, while Adrian-Ellsworth ends their season with a 14-13 record. Hayfield shared the pitching duties among 5 pitchers, with Easton Frichter picking up the win.
New York Mills, the second seed in Class A defeated Sebeka in the 10 a..m. game played their quarterfinal game at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud. New York Mills won 11-4. The Eagles were led by pitcher Dre Roberts who picked up eight strike outs. Their offense added 10 hits to contribute to the win.
South Ridge and Springfield, as the four and five seeds respectively played 10 innings in a quarterfinal game before a well-timed hit by Springfield’s Brandon Buerkle gave them the lead. Springfield went on to win 8-3.
Third seed Randolph played Fosston at Dick Putz Field in the 12:15 game. Randolph emerged victorious 9-5 and remains undefeated.
Today’s winners will face off in semi-final games to be played tomorrow, Wednesday, June 15. Hayfield and Springfield will play at 12:00 p.m. New York Mills and Randolph will follow at 2:15. The winners of the semi-finals will meet at Target Field in the Championship game on Friday. A third-place game will be played tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
