Seniors Reagan Kelley of Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka (Class A) and Taylar Schaefer of St. Cloud (Class AA) were both successful in defending their respective 2022 all-around titles. Schaefer swept all four events on her way to the championship, while Kelley also captured first place on the vault.

Fourth-seeded Gentry Academy recorded its second upset in as many nights en route to posting a 4-1 victory over No. 2 Andover in the Class AA Girls Hockey Championship Game at the Xcel Energy Center.

​​​​​​​Warroad captured consecutive Class A girls hockey championships for the first time in more than a decade with its 3-1 victory over No. 3 Orono on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.

Entering the 2023 Minnesota State High School League’s Girls Hockey State Tournament, Minnetonka was given the No. 1 seed in the Class AA field. Gentry Academy, dubbed with the No. 4 seed had something to say about that. The Stars staged the upset of the tournament with a 2-1 victory in overtime to topple Minnetonka in the Class AA semifinals late Friday night, Feb. 24 at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.

Both Big Lake (Class A) and New Prague (Class AA) returned to the championship podium after improving on their 2022 finishes.

Andover is on the threshold of a successful defense of its Class AA crown in girls hockey.
