Nordic Skiing State Meet
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. --- The Boys and Girls Nordic Skiing State Meet is scheduled for March 11-12 at Giants Ridge Golf and Ski Resort near Biwabik. Here is a look at the meet:

Section champions, runner-ups --- Section 1: Rosemount; District 196 (Eagan/Eastview). Section 2: Eden Prairie; Minneapolis Washburn. Section 3: St. Paul Highland Park; St. Paul Academy. Section 4: Forest Lake; Stillwater. Section 5: Elk River/Zimmerman; Mora. Section 6: Wayzata; Hopkins. Section 7: Duluth East; Grand Rapids. Section 8: Brainerd; Alexandria.

St. Paul Highland Park captured the team championship in 2020 as well as an individual crown when Molly Moening cruised to the pursuit championship. It could be more of the same this week. Moening, a junior, is top ranked and the skier to beat. She will face a challenge from Edina junior Maggie Wagner, Hopkins eighth-grader Sydney Drelow and Forest Lake sophomore Jordan Parent. The team title chase is expected to come down to duel between St. Paul Highland Park and Forest Lake.

Section champions, runner-ups --- Section 1: Prior Lake; Eagan. Section 2: Minneapolis Southwest; Eden Prairie. Section 3: St. Paul Central; St. Paul Highland Park. Section 4: Forest Lake; Irondale. Section 5: Maple Grove; Rogers. Section 6: Wayzata; Robbinsdale Armstrong. Section 7: Duluth East; Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. Section 8: Bemidji; Little Falls.

Forest Lake and Minneapolis Southwest each finished with 401 points during the 2020 state meet. Forest Lake earned the tiebreaker edge and won its seventh state title since 2005. Minneapolis Southwest is top ranked and Forest Lake is just a ski pole behind in the No. 2 spot. Robbinsdale Armstrong and Duluth East are top challengers. Wayzata senior Colin Freed, who placed fifth overall in 2020, enters the meet as the individual favorite. Robbinsdale Armstrong senior Roger Anderson, who was second in 2020, is ranked No. 2. Minneapolis Southwest junior Cooper Camp is ranked third.
