2024 Adapted Soccer State Tournament: CI Day 1 Recap

Park Center was the only top seed to advance to the semifinals in the CI Division of the 2024 Adapted Soccer State Tournament. South Suburban will face off against Dakota United in the first semifinal on Saturday. Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville and Park Center will meet in the second. 

South Suburban forced a big upset over Stillwater/Mahtomedi in the first quarterfinal. The Jets, who were the fourth seed in the North Division defeated the Ponies, who were the top seed in the South Division, 8-4. Sophomore Jordan Cavness had six goals for South Suburban.

In other CI quarterfinal action, Dakota United defeated the first-time qualifiers from Buffalo/Monticello/STMA 3-0. Ninth-grader Oran Hill, junior Myles Johnson and senior Makai Mejia accounted for the Hawks’ goals. In the third quarterfinal, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville beat St. Cloud Area 6-0. Sophomore Laynie Quintus and Drayden Fox led the Blazing Cats with two goals apiece.

Park Center was the final team to advance. The Pirates had three goals from senior Joseph Johnson and went on to defeat South Washington County 9-6. 

The CI champion will be crowned at White Bear Lake Area High School on Saturday, Nov. 16.
