2024 Adapted Soccer State Tournament: CI Day 2 Recap

After placing second behind Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville for the past three years, Dakota United finally broke through at the 2024 Adapted Soccer State Tournament. The Hawks defeated the Blazing Cats 3-0 in this year’s CI final. This was Dakota United’s third championship overall, but first since 2012.

Championship Game

Dakota United 3, Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville 0

It was all Dakota United in the CI championship game. The Hawks put three years of runner-up finishes behind them and finally defeated the Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville Blazing Cats 3-0. The Hawks got goals from seventh-grader Jacob Jackson and seniors Henry Eisele and Greidin Corley.

Third Place Game

South Suburban 4, Park Center 3

The South Suburban Jets took home the CI Division third place trophy after defeating the Park Center Pirates 6-4. Sophomore Jordan Cavness paced the Jets’ offense with four goals. 

Senior Joseph Johnson netted two goals for Park Center and sophomore Cortez Crumble added one goal and one assist.

Consolation Final 

Stillwater/Mahtomedi 8, South Washington County 5

In the consolation final the Stillwater/Mahtomedi Ponies met the South Washington County Thunderbolts, with the Ponies coming away with an 8-5 victory. Stillwater/Mahtomedi senior Mason Mora-Clark led all scorers with seven goals. Xander Hansen, a seventh-grader, tallied three assists for the Ponies. 

For South Washington County, junior Brett Wedan struck for three goals. Juniors Jordan Nde and Logan Curtis added one goal and one assist apiece.
