Orono improved on last year’s runner-up showing to earn its first team title with 259 points at the 2024 Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet. The Spartans banished the 10-time defending champions, not including 2020 when no state meet was held, from Visitation to a second place showing. Visitation finished with 234 points and Monticello was third at 230.

Orono won two events on its way to the championship. Junior Graycin Andreen won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.85 and also anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:36.53). Seniors Elle Davis and Mallory Knutson and junior Lola Schottler also competed on the relay team.

Monticello, led by sophomore Adalynn Biegler, won three events in the Class A finals. Biegler claimed her third consecutive crown in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle with times of 22.38 and 49.20, respectively. Both times were Class A and All-Time records.

Monticello also earned the top spot in the 200 medley relay (1:47.51) with Biegler as the first swimmer. Juniors Camdyn Branson and Ella Vagle and sophomore Scarlet Urick rounded out that team.

Two additional competitors were successful in defending their 2023 titles. Austin senior Alayna Kennedy claimed her second title in 1-meter diving (444.80) and Visitation senior Katie Miller won her second in the 500 freestyle (5:02.64).

Visitation won a second event when senior Maggie Farley turned in a time of 55.82 in the 100 butterfly.
