2024 Lacrosse State Tournament: Boys Day 1 Recap

The 2024 Boys Lacrosse State Tournament semifinal field has been set. No. 3 Lakeville North will face No. 2 Stillwater Area, and No. 5 Eden Prairie will face No. 1 Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
In the first quarterfinal of the day, the defending champions from Lakeville North made short work of Moorhead, winning 17-3. Junior Blake Piscitiello led the Panthers with six goals and one assist. Junior Carson Piscitiello and senior Quinn Power added four goals apiece for Lakeville North.
Stillwater Area defeated Minnetonka 17-3 in the second quarterfinal. The Ponies got five goals from junior Grant Giese and four from sophomore Robert Appert IV. Junior Anderson Wagner added a team-high three assists.
Eden Prairie upset Eagan in the third quarterfinal. The Eagles defeated the Wildcats 8-6, behind three goals and two assists from senior Daniel Burke. Sophomore Oscar Berggren added two goals for Eden Prairie.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s defeated Centennial 16-7 in the final game of the day. Three seniors scored three goals apiece for the Red Knights: Sky Rold, Hunter Payer and Gus Bell. Rold and Payer also tallied two assists apiece.
Lakeville North is making its second consecutive appearance and eighth overall. The Panthers are looking for their second consecutive championship.
Stillwater Area returns to the tournament after a one-year absence to make its third appearance. Eden Prairie is making its first tournament appearance since 2019 and its 11th overall. The Eagles are looking for their third title; they won previously in 2013 and 2014.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s leads the semifinal field in most previous championships. The Red Knights won in 2007, 2010, 2011, 2021 and 2022. This is Benilde-St. Margaret’s fourth consecutive appearance and 10th overall. The Red Knights placed third in 2023.
