It’s been more than two months since an opponent could keep up with the Albany Boys Basketball team for 38 minutes. The Huskies’ Class AA quarterfinal game in the Boys Basketball State tournament was no different.

No. 1 seed Albany stayed undefeated with an 80-57 victory over No. 8 Pelican Rapids at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus Tuesday night.

It was the “closest” game for the Huskies (30-0) since an 81-59 victory over Holdingford on Feb. 21. No team has stayed within 22 since Pequot Lakes in a 63-58 verdict on Jan. 10, the only single-digit win for Albany this season.

The Huskies shot 56.6 percent from the field against Pelican Rapids, including 8-for-20 from 3-point range. Sam Hondl led a balanced attack with 16 points. Zeke Austin and Braeden Justin both had 14.

Jack Welch led the Vikings (24-7) with a game-high 29 points.
