Brainerd, Totino-Grace, Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd are Dance Team High Kick State Champions

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd earned its second state championship of the weekend while Totino-Grace and Brainerd defended their titles as the Minnesota State High School League's Dance Team State Tournament concluded Saturday at Target Center with the High Kick competition.
Class A High Kick
Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd added to a special weekend by winning the Class A High Kick competition a night after claiming the Jazz State Championship. The team danced to "Hope" Saturday night. It's the fourth time the Shadows have won both titles, including a three-year stretch from 2019 to 2021.
Yellow Medicine East was the runner-up in both competitions for the second consecutive season. Holdingford, last year's High Kick winner, took third this season.
Other Class A High Kick finalists (in order of performance) were St. Cloud Cathedral, Crosby-Ironton and Cannon Falls.
Class AA High Kick
Totino-Grace repeated as the Class AA High Kick champion, dancing to "The Look." It's the 22nd Dance Team state title for the E'gals and seventh in High Kick.
Runner-up Benilde-St. Margaret's was the Jazz champion on Friday. Orono took third after a runner-up Jazz placing.
Holy Family Catholic, Mound Westonka and Austin (in order of performance) also qualified for the High Kick finals.
Class AAA High Kick
Brainerd is also a repeat High Kick champion, earning its 10th Dance Team state championship with a routine set to "Funky Fifties." Last year's title was the Kixters' first since 1999.
Class AAA Jazz champion Eastview was the High Kick runner-up. Sartell took third.
Lakeville North, Edina and Wayzata (in order of performance) were also in the Class AAA finals.
