Girls Basketball 2025: Lakeville North tops Brainerd to earn semifinal berth

Fourth-seeded Lakeville North, making its fourth consecutive state tournament appearance and 14th overall, extended its late-season surge to six in a row with a 47-20 victory over No. 5 Brainerd in the second Class AAAA quarterfinal of the Minnesota State High School League’s Girls Basketball State Tournament on Wednesday, March 12 at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.
Senior forward Aduke Ojullu scored nine of her 13 points in the first half when the Panthers (19-11) built a 33-9 advantage. Ninth-grade guard Lauren Robison also had nine points in the first half and finished with 13.
The victory sets up a second meeting this season with Maple Grove, the top seed in the Class AAAA field. Lakeville North opened the season with two consecutive losses, one each to Hopkins and then to Maple Grove on Dec. 3. Hopkins is the No. 3 seed in this week’s tournament.
Sophomore forward Addison Bjorklund paced the Warriors (25-5) with seven points. Brainerd moves onto the consolation semifinal on Thursday where it will face White Bear Lake. During the holiday break, Brainerd defeated White Bear Lake 54-38.
