Most Valuable Teammate

Arlie is the epitome of a leader and teammate. A team captain for three years, she encouraged and inspired her teammates, attended all team functions with a smile, and had a positive, encouraging spirit no matter the circumstances. When she didn’t race the way she wanted and felt disappointed, she was happy for her teammates’ successes and cheered for them. The Tartan cross-country program is incredibly grateful for her leadership and dedication.

Lily has helped rejuvenate the Hawley cross-country program with her talent and passion. Her passion is contagious and she truly values the team aspect of cross-country. She knows it is much easier to perform when you have others in your foxhole going through the same workouts and races. She understands that completely and helps elevate her teammates.

Erica is an amazing teammate. She is always willing to whatever the team needs and always puts the team above herself. She works hard every day at practice to push herself and everyone around her to be better. As a team captain, she worked hard to make sure every athlete was an important part of the program.

Tiffany exemplifies all that it means to be a team player. She selflessly embraces her role and constantly encourages her teammates. At a volleyball pep fest, she spoke to the entire elementary student body about finding value in fulfilling your role to the best of your ability, no matter what that role is. She is a genuinely selfless leader and her positivity is inspirational!

Will finished eighth at the Twin Cities Meet, the first time since 2002 that a runner from Roosevelt finished in the top 10. He convinced his younger sister Ruby to run as an eighth-grader and as a duo (she also finished in eighth place), they are the first girl and boy from Roosevelt to both finish in the top 10 since 1989.

Molly, a team captain, leads by example in influencing her teammates to be exceptional. She is always willing to go the extra mile for her teammates and truly cares about each of them. She encourages them to excel on and off the court and her positive attitude is contagious and brings joy to the team. She is always willing to hold her team accountable to the standards of the program.

Aidan does a great job inspiring the team by example and through his words. He reminds each team member that their event matters on meet days and everyone contributes to the team. Aidan has a clear desire to leave the team in better shape than when he joined by fostering a cohesive team environment and inspiring others to have the outstanding work ethic he does.

Gabby has been our captain for three seasons and our leader on and off the field. She is incredibly positive in what she says, what she does, and even with her body language. She works with younger players to improve their skills and work ethic both on the field and in the classroom. She is respectful of her teammates, opposing players, coaches and referees. She embodies the very definition of an MVT.

Nay San Soe is a perfect example of a great teammate, as he spends all his time ad energy making sure that the players on his team stay upbeat. He keeps things light with constant humor and energy. Becoming goalie when no one else wanted to, Nay San stepped up as both a leader and teammate by showing that he was willing to do whatever it took to win. He shows us what a real teammate looks like.

Tre is the epitome of a team player. Some suggested he forgo his senior football season to prepare for a basketball career at Michigan State, but Tre chose to play football. Tre is a great varsity teammate and he also can be found at ninth grade and JV football games after his varsity practices as well as showing school spirit and supporting the girls volleyball or soccer teams. He is the perfect MVT.
