Gretchen, a member of the lacrosse team since her sophomore year, always makes a positive impact. She has a bubbly personality and constantly encourages her teammates to strive for excellence on and off the field. Gretchen is a great role model for the program’s younger players and is also a member of the hockey and trap teams at Anoka, where her leadership shines.

Dwight Kiffmeyer

Rocori High School – Senior

Dwight has spent the last two years trying seven different events to help the team. He has performed in both hurdle events, long jump, high jump, discus, 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters. Dwight is at every practice and meet, competing and cheering for his teammates. Dwight is hard-working and a great leader.

Sam’s activities include Knowledge Bowl, musical, one-act play, band, choir, student government and NHS. He is an outstanding student, excelling in the classroom. He is a leader, helping all teammates feel welcome and included. He fills an integral role in each activity as a terrific leader. He is an exceptional young man with a bright future.

Brady McPherson

Orono High School – Senior

Brady excels in sports, in the classroom and as a leader and great teammate. His character leads the way. He has earned recognition as a scholar-athlete as well as team captain in multiple sports. Brady is also involved in activities such as National Honor Society and the Orono Unified Program. Brady, who has qualified for state tournaments in football and wrestling, is genuine, positive and someone who truly models the Spartan Way!

An injury last fall ended Holden’s football and wrestling seasons, but he played a big role as both teams went to state. He was at every game, tournament, meet, practice, and every team event for both sports and remained positive. His impact is immeasurable. Holden exemplifies leadership and sportsmanship and has always been a respectful, reliable and supportive student-athlete.

Kaydence Thorsteinson

Detroit Lakes High School – Junior

Kaydence is a true leader and teammate in every way. She supports her teammates as well as her classmates throughout the year. Kaydence gives 100 percent of herself in everything she does and has a very positive attitude and infectious smile on her face all the time. She is a pure example of a champion in life.

Noah is the epitome of a truly valuable teammate. He fires up the players and fellow athletes on the bench every game, all season long. He is the first one off the bench for huddles and offers constant support to players on the court. And when Noah gets on the court, he gives 110 percent.

Anika Hatlevig

New Prague High School – Senior

Anika tore her ACL twice and wasn't able to compete in her senior year, but she was nothing short of amazing all season. Sho took the initiative every day and asked to help wherever possible. During games, she talked to every girl who came out and gave positive encouragement to them. Her positivity and engagement are models for her peers to follow.

Yahya is a phenomenal leader who consistently displays integrity and leadership skills. He makes connections with anyone that he comes in contact with during the day. Teachers adore him, classmates enjoy being around him, and his teammates look to him for leadership. Yahya is a two-year captain on the football team, a captain on the track and field team, Student Council member, and he carries a 4.0 GPA.
