Boys Basketball State Tournament Day 1 Recap

Boys Basketball, the final activity in a long run of Minnesota State High School League winter state tournament events, began a five-day run on Tuesday, March 22 at Target Center and Williams Arena. Between the two Minneapolis venues, three of the four enrollment classes completed their quarterfinals and semifinals are set. Quarterfinals still remain to be played in Class A and that will commence on Wednesday, March 23 at Williams Arena.

Class AAAA Girls Basketball State Championship Hopkins 72, St. Michael-Albertville 56

Hopkins left little doubt that it was the best Class AAAA girls basketball team during the entire 2021-22 school year. The Royals, ranked No. 6 nationally, completed a season-long run of dominance with a 72-56 victory over St. Michael-Albertville in the Class AAAA championship game on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Williams Arena on the University of Minnesota campus.

Class AAA Girls Basketball State Championship Totino Grace 60, Becker 51

During the regular season, the Totino-Grace girls basketball team placed fifth in the Northwest Suburban Conference with a 12-7 record. That grueling run through the conference, however, prepared the Eagles for what was in front of them in the postseason. While the Eagles finished the season on a modest five-game winning streak, the spree couldn’t have come at a better time.

Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament -Day 2 Recap

The Minnesota State High School League’s Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament completed its two-day event on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. Traditional power Dakota United captured another championship in the PI Division and New Prague/TCU/LSH/Belle Plaine/Jordan captured the state title in the CI Division.

Class A Girls Basketball State Championship Hancock 54, Minneota 43

Hancock staged a steady comeback throughout to post a 54-43 victory over Minneota in the Class A championship game of the Girls Basketball State Tournament. It is the first Class A crown for Hancock since 1997, the first year of the current four-class format.

Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament Day 1 Recap

After a two-year hiatus because of health concerns amidst a global pandemic, the Minnesota State High School League’s Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament resumed in earnest on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Bloomington Jefferson High School. Member schools in two divisions began quarterfinal play on Day 1 with hopes of continuing on a championship path.
