Minneapolis Southwest wins Boys Nordic Ski State championship, pursuit and team sprint races.

Hopkins freshman Sydney Drevlow wins Girls Nordic Freestyle championship. St. Paul Highland wins the Team title and Duluth East’s Liesl Cope-Schaeffer and Rowan Bixler win the relay crown.

Edina's Adam Berghult captured the individual gold medal during the Minnesota State High School League's Boys Alpine Skiing State Meet on Feb. 16, 2022 at Giants Ridge near Biwabik. Minnetonka cruised to the team title, it's third since 2017.

Duluth East senior Lauren Carlson captures the individual gold medal and Minnetonka claims the team crown during the 2022 Girls Alpine Skiing State Meet on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Giants Ridge.

The Watertown-Mayer/Mound Westonka Royals return to defend their Class A team title. In the individual competition, Libby McGeary of Benson/KMS is looking for her second consecutive Class A championship on the balance beam.

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd, Sartell and Eastview return to defend their titles in both the Jazz and High Kick divisions. The Sartell Sabres, who won in Class AA last year and will compete in Class AAA this year, are looking for their sixth consecutive High Kick crown.

Long road trips are standard for teams in northern Minnesota, especially those from large schools that need to pack a lunch -- and a dinner -- in order to travel to schools of similar size.

Due to predicted cold weather, the start time for Day Two of the Nordic Ski State Tournament has been delayed to 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022.  

Alpine skiers are first on the slopes this week when the Minnesota State High School High School League holds the first of two annual meets on Feb. 16 at Giants Ridge near Biwabik. More than 200 participants in both boys and girls will chase team and individual championships.
